What to expect
The treatment sessions are weekly, with each session lasting about 50-55 minutes. It is usual to have 6-20 sessions, but this can vary depending on the main issues and their severity.
The first session of therapy will usually include an
assessment to enable us to develop joint understanding of the problem, and
the way it affects your day-to-day life. We also try to agree goals and develop a
treatment plan. In consecutive sessions we will follow and adopt the treatment
plan to your needs.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT is type of psychotherapy
that aims to support the person to make changes in their emotions, thoughts and
behavioural patterns. There are two main aspects to it Behavioural Therapy is
helping you by identifying, understanding and re-evaluating behavioural
patterns. Cognitive Therapy, the therapist would try to help you identify and
re-evaluate unhelpful thoughts, to become more realistic. CBT is the recommended
treatment strategy for anxiety and depression from National Institute for Clinical Excellence(NICE).
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR treatment assumes that the mind can heal itself naturally, which occurs during sleep. The therapist would encourage you to do simple movements, similar to those during REM sleep. You will then be asked to report back on the experiences you have had during each of these sets of eye movements. Experiences during a session may include changes in thoughts, images and
feelings. Consequently, the memory loses its painful intensity and can lead to
improvements in many aspects of your life. EMDR is currently the recommended treatment strategy for trauma from NICE.
Counselling

help you come to terms with any difficult feelings and to develop in your
own way. We focus on how you feel and understanding your situation from
your point of view. NICE recommends it for is sues related to loss such as
bereavement and relationship breakdown.
Compassion-focused Therapy (CFT)
CFT combines the skills of mindfulness and self-care to improve your
emotional wellbeing. It helps you to develop the capacity to self soothe and
encourage ourselves. The aim is to understand how our minds and bodies
work. We use mindfulness techniques, imagery, role plays and breathing exercises to
help you grow and sustain yourself and others. Self-compassion involves
recognising that suffering and feeling inadequate is part of the shared human
experience.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT aims to change your relationship with your thoughts and behavioural
patterns that bind and prevent you from living a flexible and meaningful
life. The aim is to learn to contact with the present moment with an attitude
of openness. Aim to clarify what is truly important and meaningful to you to
guide and motivate you. The therapy is based on behavioural approaches
and mindfulness techniques.
Dialectical Behavioural Therapy informed (DBT)
DBT informed treatment is used for clients with severe and enduring mental
health issues that have difficulties with forming or maintaining relationships, or require
stabilisation. The term "dialectical" asumes a synthesis between acceptance
and change. At the start we create hierarchy of treatment targets that can includs
Therapy-interfering behaviours, Quality of life behaviors, and Skills
acquisition. We aim to learn four main skills: Distress Tolerance; Emotion
Regulation; Mindfulness; Interpersonal Effectiveness.
